A friend of mine once invited me to go fishing. I hesitated: why sit for hours by the water when you can spend time in the city? But his insistence won out, and I went to the lake with him. It was the beginning of a hobby that changed my idea of peace and enjoyment of life.
We arrived at dawn, when the world was just waking up. The air was fresh, and the silence was so thick that you could hear the fish diving under the water. My friend immediately began to explain how to properly prepare gear, choose bait, and what movements to make to cast a fishing rod. For him, it was a whole ritual, and I realized that fishing is not about the result, but about the process itself.
I didn't expect to be so fascinated by this moment: sitting, looking at the water, listening to the birds sing and thinking about everything and nothing. We caught a few small fish that day, but the main trophy was something else. For the first time in a long time, I felt how nice it was to stay in this hectic reality and just be a part of nature.
Fishing has taught me patience. Every throw of the fishing rod is not just an attempt to catch a fish, it is a hope. And even if you don't catch anything, the waiting process itself gives you its own special buzz.
Now it's become my favorite hobby. Whenever I want to escape from the daily noise and find balance, I take my gear and go to the water. And you know, it's not just a hobby. This is an opportunity to be alone, think about important things and feel life in its simplest form.
Fishing is more than just a hobby for me.
